TRIMBLE DEVICES POWERED BY WINDOWS 10: CONFLICTING NETWORKING (Wi-Fi / CELLULAR FOR INTERNET)
Description of the issue
When the Trimble® SX10 total station is connected via Wi-Fi to a controller powered by the Windows® 10 operating system, a second Internet connection is not supported. The Windows 10 operating system routes all traffic to the SX10 total station, wrongly assuming that Internet access is available. A WWAN connection (GSM, LTE) cannot be used at the same time.
In most cases, this does not stop you using the SX10 total station. However workflows such as integrated surveying with the SX10 total station, or data transfer while operating the SX10 total station via Wi-Fi, will not be supported during this time.
Solutions
1. Upgrade to the latest Windows 10 operating system, RS4 version/update 1803.
2. The Trimble Installation Manager will set the registry entries required to make this work on installation.
Alternatively when not using the Trimble Installation Manager or Trimble Access software:
3. Upgrade to the latest Windows 10 operating system, RS4 version/update 1803.
4. Set up a new registry key in: HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WcmSvc\Local\fMinimizeConnections to zero (type == Reg_DWORD)
Another workaround is to put the SIM card into the receiver for integrated surveying.
Affected Units
Trimble TSC7 controller and Trimble T10 tablet in combination with the Trimble SX10 total station using Wi-Fi and cellular connections.
